Default Replace Speedometer light - 98 XK8

The light on the left side of my speedometer is out. How do I
replace the light? Do I have to take the whole dash apart to get
at the bulb? Does anyone have instructions on how to do this?
Thanks
John

briefly as possible, so the post goes through: The veneer pulls straight out towards you, a screw at each corner of the instrument module, pull it out and disconnect the harness. Don't flex the veneer panel.

JTO, once again tell be how to pull the driver side panel out. I, too, have a bulb to replace. 'Pull straight out' just doesn't seem to work.

on a XJ8 it pulls out... but on a xk8 the wood trim doesnt pull out.. the lower cover has to be removed.. 2 ..7mm or 8mm bolts.. then pops.. out. then you will see 2 screws holding the veneer in.. remove then the wood comes down then outwards carefully.. failure to do this will destroy the wood backing...

after wood out.. there is 7mm bolts holding Instrument pack in.. remember which bulbs is out.. and the holders twist out.. remember to mach the wattage of the bulb.. get them from the dealer.. there cheap. easier to replace all of them.. usually the movement can knock one more out.. also never turn the cluster upside down.

How do I find and remove the Lower Cover?
Thanks so much for all the help. I think once I find and remove the lower cover the rest is straight forward.

He's referring to the dash liner underneath your steering column. I do have one of those on hand, and the two securing screw _genius mentioned are at the bottom of the panel, in the footwell. There is a plastic pin securing each top corner of the panel, and these will pull straight out.

I was sucessful!! Thaks for all the advice and instructions.

I removed the two bolts on the bottom over to the right and left of the steering wheel.
Then I removed the two screws for the wood dash to the left and right of the steering wheel.
THen I slid the wood dash down slightly and removed it.
I then removed the 4 bolts around the unit and slid it out.
The I then just replaced the burned out buld and did everything else in reverse.

Thanks again to everyone that helped!!

What will take place if the cluster is turned upside down? If something can go wrong you can bet your butt it will happen to me!
