I thought about this for some time and read several posts that said leave it alone, and I did a few times. Finally decided to proceed and glad I did! Previous owner had upgraded to better speaker so I didn’t worry about that. I tried to cassette adaptor with iPod but sound wasn’t very good. I purchased a Joying Android 10 (7.25”) screen, I think it’s the smallest they make. I’m not a pro, did all the work myself and was paranoid about breaking something old etc. I’m happy with the results and kept original radio and marked any unused wires. Here are some pics, after deciding where to sit the screen I used a magnet to hold it in place. After I took these pics I added an anti-reflective film to the screen that has worked out great.
