Default Replacing front bearing...

My mechanic will pull the knuckle and attempt to press in a new bearing himself. The prior three bearings were replaced by sending the knuckle off to a Jag Tech because there seems to be a special tool needed to do this. That process got clumsy and I want to try and keep this local.

My mechanic will attempt to fabricate something to work. Before he attempts this any suggestions as to what he could do or what not to do...?

Good luck...... Getting the ABS ring off requires a special socket, without this you will not get it off. To give you an idea, the socket has a 3/4 drive to it I attached a 4ft breaker bar, then a 6ft scaffold pole, it took all my strength (all 6ft and 250lbs) and 2 other guys to hold the bench down with the hub held in a vice to get it undone.

You will need to protect the wheel studs with some 1/2 I/D tubes and pray it comes undone easy. Once apart it is quite simple, the circlips can rust in but again not too difficult to remove, when removed just press the bearing out. As you have a 2002 you will have the 80mm bearings, for some reason I find these easier, probably because my press tool is 3" diameter and fits perfectly as apposed to the earlier cars with the 76mm bearings.

Once back together you will need to tighten that bearing upto 400nm (295ft lbs)

Have fun!
