Default replacing passenger door question

I am replacing the passenger door on my 1997 XK8 convertible..what is the best way to change out the door? Wondering if I should unbolt the hinges or if it's poosible to 'knock out' the pin and leave the hinge mounted to the car. not sure if the door hinges are shimmed or if it is difficult job.

Thanks

I re-hinged the left and found it a real pain even though it is simple. There was no hinge pin to take out. There is not enough room to take the hinges off the side of the car without removing the door first so, you have to remove the panels and the speaker then unbolt the door from it's inside. Then remove the hinges only if you need to because you'll be fighting to re-allign both. It is definitely best to have another person help to hold it for re-allignment. I did it all on my own.

Someone like XKracer has probably done this 50 times and, I'm sure has a better way.

Good luck and easy on the paint.

I guess I have done it so many times I find it quite simple going in through the inside of the door, unplug the electrics, undo the nuts, door pulls away from the car, there are packing shims in some cases, always best to keep hold of them
