Restrictive Performance Help!
As you know we have seen a lot of posts related to Restricted Performance on our forum. Both Brian Schuette and I talked about the many issues that could cause this problem and the different techniques it troubleshooting the problem and how it should be pulled together to help others. Well we are attempting to do that. I set up a Trouble Shooting page http://www.gusglikas.com/AutoRepairTroubleShooting.htm on my page and we will list what we can put together. Brian has a unique way to simplify the procedure and put it in writing. We hope it will help you to identify your problems.

Gus,
I might be missing what you're doing -
Why don't you guys use the DTCs? They essentially have the restrictive performance list already created for you. Then you won't have to recreate a list or miss anything. Just use the Default Action column along with the key codes. In fact, if you just make a word.doc copy of the DTC summaries you could redact the list to show only those faults that cause a restrictive performance. Problem is - you need to do more than one list as the DTCs have been upgraded over the various MYs.
All in all, the DTCs as they are, work well for diagnosing restricted performance.

Restricted Performance and Limp home
BTW - Just thought I'd mention since you guys might look into this - there are two distinctly different conditions that are often mistakenly blended into one term or used interchangeably - Limp home (or mode) and Restricted Performance.
Limp home - is a transmission related fault and restricts the transmission to a one-gear operation until the fault is repaired.
Restricted performance - is an engine related fault and restricts engine RPM, typically, to 3000 RPM.
