I would like to order one of the kits, if possible. I have recently replaced hoses and actuator, and I continue to get leaking through seals at the fittings. After 15 trips back to the shop, I'm ready to try anything. Please let me know how to order, send payment, etc. My regular email is tberg@dslextreme.com
Thanks very much.
Ted

Hey Gus, do you sell a stronger hose kit, too? Someone mentioned that in another thread. I went to the website to check it out, but I couldn't find it. Don't worry, I am not trying to compete. I was just curious what the upgraded hose kit consisted of. Anyone who replaces their hoses would be a fool not to use the stronger hoses. Eventually I might replace mine just for the fun of it. I'll make a video and use your hoses.

This is a very strange concept of "fun". You are not a well man, Rev.

I`m not sure it would be fun either, but I personally would love to see a step by step video for the roof hose replacement!

All you need to do is go to my page but this is the link you are looking for Hose Replacement This was the first of many procedures.

It takes about 6hrs to replace the hose. Not sure I would want to watch a video on replacing the hoses that long. Whatever floats your boat!

Gus

This looks like only one hose, is that all that is really needed? I know the Jaguar replacement is two hoses and if heat destroys one, why not the other. Is it just a pressure thing and the other hose is in a low pressure environment?

Thanks

Just received the replacement (2) hoses from Chic at Colliflower,Inc. in Baltimore. Very nice design with SS braid. I received all the fittings and a roll of teflon tape for the joints. The hoses were delivered in a couple of days. My thanks to Gus for all the effort. Why buy a standard set of hoses from the dealer when you can have this for a few dollars more. Hope to get them installed before the "green monster" shows up.

It is just a matter of time until the other hose fails. If you want to take that chance the choice is yours. With the amount of work involved in replacing the hose why not do both. all hoses are in the same pressure enviorment along with the lifts and latch.

I guess I wasn't very clear in my post.

The picture of the hose from Gus' site looked like just one hose and I thought both should be replaced. Now I know that both hoses are included, I will certainly go the more expensive but safer route.

Thanks for the information.

Thank you for the mention of the convertible pump pressure relief kit. I just received mine today and look forward to installing it. IF we ever get some good weather.

After 15 unsuccessful trips to the repair shop, replacing the hoses twice, the fittings three times, the actuator and the whole closing mechanism, tightening the fittings numerous times, I finally gave in and bought the pressure reducing device and had it installed about a week and a half ago. I wish I could report a successful outcome, but alas, the 17th trip will be the last one before I shoot both the installer and the vendor who makes the hoses and fittings. I have warned both, that first I will receive all the money back that I spent, and second, that they will each have one final opportunity to fix the leaks since each blames the other. The leaks are not constant, but intermittent, sometimes skipping a week before I find droplets coming through the mesh under the headrail or a stream of fluid next to my left foot adjacent to the driver's door panel or both. If I could answer the coupe vs. convertible survey again, I'd change my vote, I'm so frustrated. Additionally, after cleaning the sensors on all four wheels, I got only a day and a half before the traction control/abs lights made their triumphant return to my dash. They also are intermittent, staying off for a day sometimes or staying on for two days. I'm beginning to think I must've been nuts to buy another Jag. I'll report after this final return engagement, but I'm not optimistic. I may do what Elvis did to his Pantera (I have one of those too) when it wouldn't start one day, SHOOT IT!

When you replaced the hose set to the latch did you install a factory set or did you install the hoses I had designed? Did you use the hose repair kit from Jaguar? The place that installed the hoses and latch were they a jaguar dealership or an independent shop? The hoses both sets do not take kindly to bending, any sharp bend to any of the hoses reduces the quality of the hose. That is why it is important not to pull and tug on the hoses in the install process, a natural bend is not a problem.
You say that you have another leak, is it from the latch area again? Keep in mind that the pressure relief valve will reduce the 1600psi to 1000psi +- a few. What it will not do is not prevent an already stressed system from failing so the timing of the install important.
I would like to get additional information on this to help you and prevent others from experiencing the same. Send me a PM.

Go to Gus' website, download the ABS HARD FAULT worksheet and spend 1/2 hour checking the integrity if the sensors and wiring at the ABS module interface. If that is OK then send the ABS module to Module Masters > Home and be done with it. I screwed around with cleaning and whatnot for 6 months and then finally had it repaired in 5 days for $120 and got a 5 year warranty, too. Problem solved.

Default Conv Top Latch Hose Replacement

Well I finally got the 'green shower', it was much more like the 'green seeping', flowing down the left A-Arm and from the Grill Piece at the Map Lights. Should have known it though... That is why the Hyd Pump in the rear had been disconnected by the prior owner. Bought the vehicle at Auction for a 'song', so I didn't have a chance to talk to the Owner or do a good Pre-Purchase inspection. But I am happy, all-in-all it has been in reasonably good shape with few problems and taken good care of. Only prob's are the Roof Hyd Hoses and Throttle Body (which is more of a nuisance than anything). I have cleaned the Throttle Body, but need to do the Elec Conn's and Pre-Load Hose Conn at LH Valve Cover yet. Hopefully, that will taker care of it.

Am going to order the pair (2) of hoses from Baltimore for the Conv Hyd Top fix. My sincere thanks to Gus for his efforts and documentation on this. Additionally, my sincere thanks to the Rev for the the 'elect mod pressure reduction'. Hopefully, about a week I will be 'Top Down'.

Is there any potential problem with the remaining hoses in the truck area that feed the Hyd Cylinders/Rams that operate the top? If so, I should probably go ahead and replace them now. Comments and guidance are appreciated...

I want to thank Gus for the pictures you supplied with the replacement of the roof hoses. I just had to do mine as it started a slow leak above the windshield. I have installed the pressure reducing valve as was hoping for the best since I just purchased this car but after a few openings it started to leak. I wish I would of read farther and purchased the upgraded hoses. I went to our local Jaguar dealership and got them for $255.00. Total time to install was 4.5 hrs thanks to Gus and his hard work.

When I replaced my hose I installed the factory hose like you. I had no information on the hose or the reason for the hose failure, I could not get any information on what was involved. I replaced mine, took photos and created a webpage for others to use if they had the same problem. Shortly after I began investigating the problem and about a year +/- a few months I came up with the cause, a hose and with Walt the pressure reduction valve and I continue to work at getting additional information. Thank You for your kind words, I will pass them on to the many who helped in the process. Chic for the hose and Walt for the pressure relief valve, they were great to work with.

First of all, thanks to Gus and everyone else who takes the time to help the rest of us keep our XK8s running. I bought my 2006 XK8 last fall and promptly installed the pressure valve. Everything has been great until last week when I noticed a very slight drip through the ultrasonic sensor and sure enough, it is hydraulic fluid.

The top is currently up and I'm going to replace the hoses using the kit from Chic at colliflower. I have 2 questions - 1) after reading through Gus's instructions, it sounds like you need to open the top manually but there is a possibility of bending the roof frame so is it better to open the top one last time with the hydraulic system and be prepared to mop up any leaks or is manual the best way to go? 2) Is the latch itself an issue? I saw on Gus's webpage one of the latches had on o-ring that was faulty.

Thanks in advance for the help!
