Default Rusty sump

Hi again
My sump is leaking oil the side has rusted through I never thought I would see a oil filled sump rust, but hey this is a xk8, question bolts very small have sprayed with WD40 will they snap? Anyone help

The rust is from the outside Ivor, I had the same problem with an Astra van, a gob of some kind of metal repair paste fixed it right up for the rest of the time I owned it.
The only way to find out if the bolts will break is to try them.

Cheers Norri tried metal glue almost stopped leak just dripping very slow,
Have got good 2ndhand pan will just keep spraying then hope studs come out

I'd try a penetrating fluid other than WD40. My experience with it has been spotty, at best. Perhaps 'Liquid Wrench', or something similar.

If you remove the sump, it should be fairly simple to use a metal paste (in the U.S. we tend to use 'J-B Weld' - works a charm.
