A satisfying day of fix-its
Today was the first day of playing around with the 2003 XKR that my son bought in Houston last weekend.
Job 1 - Replace the door ajar microswitch in the driver's door that lets the window clear the top when opening/closing. I ordered microswitches (bought an extra) earlier in the week and we watched the video ( thanks, Rev!) on youtube and it went perfectly!
Job 2 - Had a DSC/ABS warning on the dash, I had ordered Autoenginuty, but it won't be here for a few days. I figured why not check at least the front wheel sensors. Right away, we discovered the cause of the warning lights as the right side sensor was hanging loose and not even installed in the hole. Five minute fix and the warning lights disappeared, Yay.
Job 3 - Antenna mast would not retract fully due to an apparent earlier mishap that left at slight kink at the base. Found a new OEM mast on ebay and did the fix for that as well...nice to have a flush fitting antenna now.
Not bad for an afternoon's work...next up I am getting a "Cruise Not Available, Forward Alert On" (always together) at random times...at other times the adaptive cruise works great...any ideas where to start, or just wait till the scanner software shows up? The other issue for the scanner is that the Park Assist doesn't function, only give the long beep when you put it in reverese. It sounds like we already have our next Saturday planned out for us as well.

For the forward alert, you might check the switch and then the radar box wiring and connections. Cleaning them could help with intermittent problems.
Constant tone for the reverse sensors suggests one of them is blocked or failed in a way that it thinks that it is blocked. You could try unhooking them one by one to see if you could find the problem. Autoenginuity should be able to point you the right way, once you have it.

Charlie - the forward alert switch sounds plausible since I never get the cruise message without the accompanying forward alert message as well. I figured we would check/clean connections first and see if that helps.
I've read the previous posts on the park assist and they say the sensors should be clicking if functioning. None of the 4 sensors make any noise and I switched the module out with another one with no success...hopefully Autoenginuity will shed some light on this.

When i first bought my 2005 XKR i had the problem "Cruise Not Available," this would always be from a cold start and would not clear after 1 mile or 100 miles until i turned off the ignition and restarted the motor, it would then clear and not come back till the next cold start. The problem turned out to be a duff battery, since the battery change the problem never came back.
