Default SatNav the easy way

Since I am cheap and lazy, I am trying this the easy way.. A simple hanger off the bottom edge of the vent, A Samsung Tablet with built in GPS, A cassette audio unit with a 3.5mm plug.
Now I can use any GPS Nav software I like - TomTom, Google, etc., etc.. Old ears don't hear so well anyway so the Cassette option works fine for me with all my music also on the Tablet. A USB charger in the cigarette light socket and I am set to go. I am trying it with 8' Samsung. If I like it, I will probably pick up a 7" and leave it there permanently.

Only down side I see is if the heat is on. Might get the tablet a bit hot. Of course, you could direct the heat to somewhere other than those vents, I suppose.
Otherwise, it looks clean to me.

Cheers,

Gary

I'd be curious how it looks in the sun with the top down, but otherwise seems like a great solution. Also if you wear polarized sunglasses check to make sure you can still see the screen, I know mine sometimes give me trouble with my phone.

Been thinking about that. If I like the setuo after a bit of testing, I will probably get the smaller 7" Samsung to block the vents as little as possible. Might even turn it 90 deg and block the buttons instead?

Polarized are a problem. I use photo chromatic for driving and save the polarized for fishing.

Great minds think alike - I used a gooseneck for same effect. Love it too.

Good looking option! I use Iphone a lot.. Great option for hearing aid wearers. Bluetooth straight to your ears. Only problem is when you have no cell phone signal, which seems to happen frequently to me. Therefore I wanted something with internal true GPS, downloadable maps and a slightly larger display. The Samsung has served me well in the Motorhome, where the display is further away.

I use a Garmin sat nav simply because its does not suck up my phone data and I often travel to the US and UK so roaming charges are BAD....and I can take it with me to use in hire cars

My xk8 has the 3 gauge dash and I use the standard Garmin windscreen suction cup mount , which so far has worked perfectly for me
