Science or Magic?
I was having a bit of an issue with a non-Jaguar convertable. The top squeeked and there was a lot of wind noise. After a bit of searching on the associated forum, a member suggested DuPont Krytox oil (GPL105). It worked so well on the other car I tried it on my XK8.
I had to share the results. Fricking Amazing! I got so excited I didn't think to take pictures of before and after. The Jag is quiter, the passenger window that never quite closed works perfectly and the rubber trim looks like new! The white oxidation gunk is gone.
It's expensive, like cocaine expensive. (remember the 80s?) But what do you expect from a lubricant developed for NASA. Good news is I only used 1/4 of the bottle doing two cars. Get the one with the needle like the picture.
All you do is put a minuscule amout on the rubber trim and massage it in. No other product I've tried works as well.
For the Americans it's on Amazon $35 an ounce. I had to pick it up over the border as they won't ship to Canada.

I called the parts department of 3 Jaguar dealers in Canada. None of them had ever heard of or stocked Krytox. I one of the service departments what they do to quiet a whistling convertable top and they suggested replacing the rubber molding.
So maybe my original post has some value. Most of us don't read random TSBs and I didn't find a single post on this forum mentioning the product or it's benefits.
Since I couldn't get a price with Jaguar I called Audi. 30ml bottle $105.

I was an AVID TSB reader and I still have every single TSB that was issued when I worked at the dealer. Not all paper TSBs were converted to .pdf but I saved both paper and .pdf.
A TSB issued in 1998 is probably forgotten by most Jag mechanics. Most Jaguar employees were likely not working for a dealer 20 years ago. I just have a good memory for TSBs.
