Default "Sealed Battery"

There is a a lot of talk of batteries going bad and causing all sorts of problems. One way to lengthen the life of the battery is to make sure the electrolyte level in the cells is kept full. Because the battery is in the trunk and right above an exhaust pipe, I have to add about 8-10 ounces of distilled water to the cells every 3 months. I have only had one battery go bad and that was after the dealer assured me they had checked it. When I took it our 3 of the cells had the plates exposed and you couldn't see any electrolyte in the cells. Make sure you use distilled or deionized water only, NOT tap or drinking water.

I replaced mine a couple years ago with a maintenance free battery, a AGM type. No longer have to worry about checking the water level.

That seems a lot (10 US Fluid Ounces = 295.73 ml) but you live in a lot warmer climate than I do.

My XK8's used to take 5 - 10 ml per cell (0.169 - 0.338 US Fluid Ounces) at each annual check. An OE Varta battery lasted around 5 years on both my XK8's.

My current XK has an OE AGM battery which is now 9 years old.

Mine also 9years old but to be honest I have started getting dash warnings from time to time over the last few weeks that only last a few minutes so I guess it's time for a new one as I beleve this could be one of the problems a on its way out battery brings up
