Default Seat height adjustment switch 02 XKR

OK Folks.
Maybe there is someone who's had this problem or a tech who knows something about it. Car has (according to the manual) 10 way adjustable driver's and passenger seat. Everything on the passenger side works except for the height adjustment. The seat is full down. Not good for a short wife! Pulled the modual out and all looks normal. I haven't yet tried running on the left. Thing is, the switch appears to have zero up and down movement, only forward and back. Dealer says for my vin number this one item doesn't exist as it was a non purchased option?

Does the modual accomodate the verticle movement if there is a working switch? Seems a new switch will be $900. Not!

Anyone know where I can locate a working switch used? Will it function?

Thank you all

Regards
RJAG

Are you sure that your car has the "5 Way Passenger Seat Adjustment". There is also a "3 Way Passenger Seat Adjustment" Variation.

My XKR has a Up-Down Driver's Seat adjustment, but the passenger seat does NOT have a Up-Down Function.

The number and position of Control Buttons are the same but the Front Button will only move Forward and Backward on the 3 Way Seat Variation.

Edit: the JTIS meaning of 3 or 5 Way corresponds to 6 or 10 Way in the Owner's Manual

My 2000 XK8's passenger seat doesn't go up and down either.

Front, back on the front switch, the back tilts forward and backward from the middle switch and and the lumbar suport blows the bag up and releases the air on the last switch to the rear.

My wife complains about the lack of the up/down feature too. Hurts her legs on long trips.

Damn! That p[robably means that mine is correctly set-up. It has fwd/back (1), backrest fwd/back (2), headrest up/dwn (3) Lumbar in/out (4).
I'm going to have to pull the seat and manually or electricly by-pass the modual and set the seat higher.

In the mean time I'm still wondering if a used switch would alleviate the issue?

BTW Paul, great car you've got. Identical to mine.

RJAG: It's not just a matter of a different Switch. The Passenger Seat in your car lacks a Motor and associated mechanical parts to move the seat Up-Down.

The JTIS Electrical Diagrams for the 2002 XK do actually show a Passenger Seat variation that has a power Up-Down function. I don't know if this option was ever available in North American cars.

Default Passenger seat switch

Thanks folks.

I think I may pull the seat when I get the time and see if I can mechanicly raise it a bit, if there is no motor.

Thanks,
RJAG
