Default seat memory is not working

The button beeps when I set the seat & mirrors but other than some noise, the memory doesn't seem to work.

I have had the seat moved & when I pushed the #1 to reset it, nothing happened & I had to do it myself.

Besides the buttons on the door, what make the system work?

There's a module under the drivers seat that can fail. Try one from the wreckers.
Good luck,

Rob

Here is a Technical Service Bulletin on the memory function. The Seat Control Module is a prime suspect but there are others involved. Swapping the driver and passenger seat modules is an easy way to verify that is the problem.

I know it sounds daft, but does your car have the memory seat function?
I have the factory 'memory' system installed (2001 XK8) but it DOESN'T include the seats. It took me ages to find this out.
I have a memory steering wheel and mirrors, but NOT the seat.

My last 2000 XJ8L, 2001 XK8 and current 2005 XK8 all have driving position memory function. On all three this included driver's seat, headrest, steering column and exterior rear view mirrors.

The Driver's Handbooks for the 2001MY and 2005MY make no mention of driver's seat memory being an option:

JAGUAR XK8 & XKR - Driving Position Memory.pdf

Perhaps you have a seat module fault?

Graham

Sorry - I think I misunderstood the question.
My XK8 does have the memory function, but my S Type before it had an extra function where the drivers seat automatically moved backwards when the key was taken out to help with exit and entry.
Inserting the key automatically moved the seat forwards again.
My XK8 doesn't have this function.
A pity, as the XK is a more 'tight' car to get in and out of.
Roy.

I programmed my #2 memory position as an exit position. Not automatic but fully functional and moves the steering wheel also.

You know what same thing here, but for my situation and I don't know why but when I position everything hit the set button then number 1 I hear the beep indicating its set. Then for it to work for me I have to hold down the #1 button and it works. What I mean is as a test I adjusted everything way off it's mark, then I hit memory seat 1 and it went to its set position. Totally weird, but if I just press 1 it does nothing I have to hold it. Also on the steering wheel make its set to auto.

In my Corvette I can press both the 1 and 2 position buttons at the same time and gain a third setting. I don't know if it will work in my XK8 - the memory doesn't seem to work very well, not well enough to test anything anyway...

My XK8 is the same.
Sometimes the memory works, at other times, it moves the seat to a random position I never set. Also, the steering wheel doesn't always move when I switch off/on.
My S Type always worked perfectly.
