Seat not functioning at all
Have an issue with the passenger side electric seat in my XK8.
It stopped working and now can't move it at all.
Have swapped over the modules and the module works fine in the drivers side.
Fuses checked so that doesn't appear to be the issue.
IS there anything else I should be checking to diagnose the fault? This happened to anyone else?
thanks for your help,
Keiran

This is a fairly common fault, especially with the passenger seat, and is caused by repeated rubbing of the circuit board in the passenger seat module. Usually the seat just loses its ability to recline.
The only long-term fix is to repair the circuit board, or somehow find another module. In the meantime, you can swap the modules and choose which seat is able to adjust, and which is not!

Perhaps I didn't explain properly.
That's what I thought was going wrong.
But I swapped the two modules over and both of them work if connected to thte drivers seat.
The fuse is fine.
Just wondering what else to look for.

There are two fuses which could affect this, #1 and #8 on the driver side of the dash...did you check both of them?
If they are both OK, you may need to remove the seat and start checking power and ground looking for broken wires. Wiring diagrams can be downloaded here: JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

Another possibility is that the electrical connector clips under your passenger seat need to be cleaned with electrical contact cleaner spray, then thoroughly wiped dry with Q-Tips. This is relatively quick and easy, so I would do it next after checking your fuses....
And another check to add to the list.
The seat harness is poorly protected where it emerges from the carpet (arrowed in red).
This is my driver's side but the harness layout is similar on both sides.

Repeated flexing from moving the seat can cause breaks. Cables can also get trapped in the frame sliders and be cut.

Any idea how I remove the seat if the seat is all the way back and has stopped working? Not sure I can get to the rear restraining bolts.
One other thing is that there seems to be a spare black connector, small square plastic end with two wires. Don't remember ever unplugging it, so i assume it's for memory which I don't have, or something like that. Could that be the cause?
