The plastic that surrounds the driver's side seatbelt receptacle on my 2005 XKR is split in two. (The seatbelt receptacle is still fully functional.) Before paying $140 or so to replace the entire mechanism, I'd like to try gluing the two halves back together. Does anyone happen to know what kind of plastic they are made of and/or have a recommendation for the type of glue to use?

Not sure what type of plastic it is. I used Gorilla glue on my XJ40 seatbelt and it worked out great.

JB Weld also good for this type of repair. But you might want to check ebay or a wreker for a used replacement.

I've used a 2-part epoxy called Araldite to good effect in those cases where Superglue just isn't good enough. Available on eBay.

Also, can the rear "seat" clamshells be used as replacements?

I used Goop brand on mine works fine.

I used an epoxy glue on mine. That worked for a while until they split in another spot. The sun does a number on these, especially here in Florida. This is a safety issue so, I just bit the bullet and replaced with new, would not want this coming apart in the middle of a crash, just not worth the chance.
