Headrest fix
I spent yesterday afternoon doing the headrest fix. After reviewing YouTube, I felt confident that I understood the process and the job wasn't tough. It took about an hour and half to do the passenger seat and after the learning curve, a bit less than an hour to do the drivers seat.
I didn't cut the sheave in the middle and use heat shrink as the TSB suggests. Rather I cut the sheave immediately above the metal fitting that fits into the motor. Using a drifting tool to remove the waste sheave, (which was a little longer than the recommended 12mm, but not by much) I then re-fitted the metal fitting to the end of the shortened sheave and reassembled the seat. There is no risk of heat shrink not holding so, hopefully, the repair won't fail.
I suspect it will take me longer to clean up all the fine dust that was released by stripping the leather seat cover back than it did to affect the repair!
