Default Seats wont go forward

The two front seats on my 1998 XKR won't go forwards. They will go backwards, which is odd and would suggest two motors - one for each direction and a separate power supply for each.

I tried to adjust the driver's seat to go forwards, to no avail. As I say, forwards was no problem. I then went to the passenger seat and had exactly the same problem. I was in the seat an hour earlier and had no problem adjusting it.

Any thoughts?

The seat forward and backward motion is from the same motor, so your problem is electrical supply. I.e. Could be Switch/Plug/Cable/Module? Agree, it is very odd that your problem is on both seats.

Pretty sure it’s the module. I had the same and it was the edge of the PCB which had a couple of the tracks
broken. Easy to fix if you are handy with a soldering iron.

Didn’t see it was both sides so that would be a coincidence if both modules failed at the same time!

Default Thanks

Thanks for the advice. It appears to be an intermittent problem as this morning they both worked in both directions and then this evening the drivers seat wouldnt go backwards.
Are the seats easy to remove to get to the assembly that is shown in the photo?
I am very handy. I used to do a lot of electronics, building amplifiers, so would be straightforward for me to fix.

As long as the seats are moving again it should be easy. Just 4 bolts and a few electrical connections. If it’s a convertible lower the roof as that makes it easier to get them out. They are surprisingly heavy!

Thanks for your advice. Sadly, not a convertible but I am built like the proverbial outhouse, so wont be a problem lifting them.
