I had the security module on my '05 go a few years ago. Everything worked fine but the remote key fobs. When I took it apart, it had some water inside. At that time the car was still under a warranty and the Jag dealer in Buffalo, NY told me they wouldn't cover it and it would cost over a grand for a new module. I went to another dealer and no problem, it was covered. (real question is where did the water come from - the trunk was and still is dry).

I was told there are batches that they had to go by. Not everyone would work in your car, but you had a number range that would. I saw a pdf on this thread, which is probably how it worked, but I didn't have time to read it.

Good luck. After I had mine replaced, no problems at all.

Still looking in the UK. Your kind offer was great but there appears to be to many variables for the module I require, and I don't want to put you through a lot of hassle.

Offer still stands; providing assistance isn't supposed to be effortless and convenient.

Hi Keith,

Had the same problem, remotes would not work, everything worked with key. As you, tried everthing, even got our electronic tech guys at work to check it over, but to no avail, the SLM just would not accept a signal.

I could not find a secondhand one so bit the bullet and I got a new SLM through a local indepenant Jag dealer, watched while he changed them over and programmed the key fobs and bingo, everything works.

Whole job took about 30 mins, an expensive part and cost about £400+ in total to fix, but glad it's all working and anyway my P & J is worth it. Hope you have better luck
Bob

Default update

Just a update on my SLM problems. I have ordered a new SLM from a well known main dealer who offered me a very good price, fitted and programmed.
It turns out that all XK,s from my year on [2003] have exactly the same SLM and they are programmed by the dealer.
I would like to say a big thankyou to all who tried to help and an even bigger one to H20boy who offered to get me one in the USA.
Just hope it works when they fit it,and I will keep you informed.
Regards
Keith

Default Update

In case anyone else is having similar problems, I took my car today to Guy Salmon Jaguar in Oxford and they fitted a new SLM, and everything now works perfectly.
All in price of £400 which I thought was very good.
Once again, thanks for every bodies help.

Regards

Keith

Here's TSB 418-03 on module compatability:

The market is programmed at build stage which suggests a US module can be reprogrammed for a UK vehicle.

Hi,
How can I find out if the SLM comes from convertible to avoid the problem with roof pump???
