I have gone through the forums and found little concrete info on the base way to go about upgrading the standard xk8 audio system on a 2001 model year cabrio.

I see two ways of doing this:

1) forget the jaguar audio system qnd upgrade the speakers (2 way or three way front, not sure about the possibility of upgrading the rear speakers), change the head not with an inbuilt powerful amplifier or add a power amplifier too;

2) use the jaguar premium audio kit. i have purchase the premium audio jaguar kit from a donor 2001 model year xkr. I think whatever one does the speakers should be changed after 10 years. They do not look like being a quality item. The jaguar rear woofers (2 of them for the cabriolet) look like having a quality housing. Now the tricky piece ... Should one trust the jaguar amplifier? Would it make better sense to change his?

Has anyone carried out a serious upgarde of their audio system and be willing to share this.
