shifter interlock

I have a 1997 xk8 that the interlock on the shifter doesn't work. Is there a fuse? The car won't shift out of park and I'm stuck- help!

There should be a small hole on the left top side of the J gate where you insert your key to unlock the shifter. On my 03 it has a torex looking cover on the hole.
