I would not trust OEM, they are probably not the same. If I replace my shock mounts I will go with Wayne, but with all due respect, no one has used his for ten years/ 100K mi. Still, it appears to be the best option at this time.
I am coming up on a year since installing Wayne’s mounts and used them in PRs crap roads. So far they have held up very well. I will soon post a one year update.
Glad to see that Welsh finally acknowledged the upper shock mounts they have been selling for the past five years or so are flawed. Sure hope their "new and improved" version will indeed solve their current problem. The big question will be who among us would be willing to trust them and purchase the new version once it becomes available? I would still opt to go with a set of Wayne's components....
Welsh not only didn't support those who purchased their, 'we never have had a problem with our', upper mounts when they failed in short order but were more than happy to sell you another set with zero compensation.
Buyer beware!
ok, that feels better

Front end of my newly purchased 06 drives like the tires are out of balance. Some shaking at 60,70,80 mph even when I put the car in neutral. Car has 43k. Shocks and suspension look like there's very little wear. Tire shop says all bushings look good. Tires are new Continentals w/ 4k miles. Balance is perfect. Shock mounts are shot (can see the powder). Would this be enough to cause the "non Jag smooth" problem?
Yeah, I would try them if they gave them to me. I expect the ones Wayne made for me to show up tonight. I plan on doing them myself this time. It doesn't seem to hard to do from the one video I watched on youtube. I will have some shop compress the springs and change out the mounts as I don't have a tool for that.

I find it interesting on the total re design on the Welsh system.
Hope they read the big thread and gathered some good information. Baxtor and I sure gave it our best effort.
If they ask, I'll send them a set of our best.
Well I got my struts out today after work. It really it only took me maybe an hour and a half. I had fun just before then though I was driving down the road and I hit a chunk of metal or something on the road caught a hole in my brand new tire one of my brand new tires the rear one and of course it was a Dunlop signature HP and I cannot find them anywhere like ordered one from place we'll see if it actually shows up. Anyways as I was doing it my sway bar links are garbage and I asked the shop to look at everything and make sure everything is good if not we will replace it well apparently they didn't see that somehow It was so obvious Ray Charles could have saw it. So anyways it's going to order new links yay me money money money money money it seems..
So found a set of upper mounts from another car (not mine). One of the 3 bolts is missing. Are the bolts a press fit? It will be hard to find a replacement bolt that fits flush like the original. Strength?

Ouch. Financially painful in multiple ways! Good luck w the replace tire search.
So my engineer friend just got back to me on the bolt. Suggests an M10 and use a vise to remove. This make sense? Hopefully the local hardware store will have one.
Does anyone know the Torque specs for everything when replacing upper strut mounts on a 2002 XK8. Top hat three nuts, lower shock mount bolt, sway bar link.
thank you
Most likely the upper shock mounts have completely squished all the way. Also maybe the shocks are weak. The springs I was told before usually are not an issue. That or your front tires are flat

The car will not be lower if the shocks are weak. And I dont know about usually, but my 2000 XKR had saggy springs after 90000 miles. I replaced them with new OEM and got the normal ride height back.
I’m trying to figure out why my 03 with 37,000 miles is so low in front?
If you are 3.5" low at the front and 2" at the rear, I imagine that either your springs are really tired, or a PO has lowered the car.
Dud shock mounts on their own won't lose you much more than 0.5" or so at the front.
