Sump
2000 Jaguar Xk8 Engine Problem Oil Pan Gaket Replacement Fastner Sequence...
Can't help with the oil pickup, sorry.
However, since you seem to be a 'ph' Stephen you can be admitted to the JF Inner Steve Sanctum.
Steves outnumber everyone else because (we believe) only Steves are really bright enough to own Jaguars.
Admission is, of course, expensive but I will have my dear Ugandan friend contact you shortly for your credit card details.

It's in JTIS.

Both are 11 - 13 Nm

With torque settings, the lower figure is for used bolts and the higher is for new bolts.

This is a useful resource for information:

JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

and this is a link to a Jaguar Specification book containing all sorts of information such as torque settings etc.

As long as "Urkel" never buys one you're ok.

I had to google that, he doesn't qualify as a Stephen.

The whole concept of only Stephens owning Jags is patently piffle.

But...don't you remember his suave alter ego, "Stephan". Yes, he was so very cool he even charmed what's her name who he had such a crush on.

It's just me being silly - a while ago all the replies to an OP were from Steves so we decided we must be secretly running the show.
Just ignore me.

Hand tight will do!
Are you seriously using a torque wrench for all bolts?
The only time I use a torque wrench is for head bolts and for wheelspacer bolts.

Hi,
well ive got the tool and id rather the oil pick up does not drop of or come loose in a few months time, so I thought it makes sense. Im no perfectionest in any way and am a dab hand at doing a cowboy job on other machinary, but given the work involved in rebuilding an engine id rather make sure things are done properly.

After all steves know Best (meant in the best possible Way)

Best Wishes

Stephen

I agree. On tractors a socket and bit of scaffold pipe but on these things Isaac Newton Rules.
Even doing up the spark plugs was hairy - that washer seemed to squash forever on the first one and I had a little mental video running of how long it would take to get a heliciol insert into my lovely aluminium head. Never felt the torque wrench break with so much relief !
ps whereabouts in Lincs?

Marsden, around here that is generally me.

But I came up with a solution, now I just need to send 'a Steve' a PM and receive a prompt and personal reply without publicly looking like an idiot.

And if the OP is lucky enough to have access to a 'Talk Wench', then he should be happy.
