Sill covering

Sill covering
Hi all,
I'm just treating some surface corrosion at the bottom of the rear sills. In places the dimpled (only way I can describe it) plastic covering has separated away from the metal.
Is there a name for this material and is it possible to DIY recoat it?
Otherwise I shall just rust-treat / prime / paint - not ideal but it's out of normal sight.
Thanks in advance.

Multiplecats.
It's called Stone Chip Protector - widely available as an aerosol. I got some here :
Car Paint from AutoPaint St Helens - 400ML CHIP PROTECTOR GREY (Powered by CubeCart)
Can be oversprayed with conventional basecoat & lacquer. I found it difficult to get an exact match to the "texture" of the existing coating, but as you say, it's in a fairly inconspicuous place, so not obvious except on very close inspection.
Cheers,
David.

I don't really have any experience of other places to compare with, but I have used the St. Helens company for stone-chip, base-coat, lacquer etc., and can recommend for quality, speed of delivery & price. The lacquer they supply isn't as good as the two-part stuff the professionals use, but that contains cyanide and needs specialist equipment to use safely and legally.
