Default convertible top latch

slidelljag; If it is your mechanical latch mechanism "hanging up", possibly just a good spray with some lubricant will solve the problem.
If it is electrical, there are switches at the top of the windshield; top closed switch, top latch closed switch & top ready to latch switch. Possibly a switch is not working consistently or has a bad ground.

What colour is the fluid - the new stuff should be green. If not you need to change it and flush the hoses.
Make sure the level in the pump reservoir is good and the Tee handled petcock is turned firmly clockwise.
Can you be a bit more specific with the problem - latching, unlatching or what?

On putting top up the latch sometimes coming up to accept the top and other times doesnot. I'm changing the top fluid today and see how this goes.

As Jag13cat says it could just be dirty + sticky.
You can do a better job by removing the trim panel that covers it.
Also undo the petcock and use the Allen key to cycle it a good few times as you clean and lubricate it.

OK changed the fluid and top moves much better. The problem is putting the top up with the top latch not coming up to accept the top. It worksgreat putting down. However, the problem is intermittent. I'm going to WD40 thelatch and check ground on swithes. Can I bypass the swithes to verify if they work by looking at the latch movement?

My question is when did you replace the hoses? If you just replaced them it could be that you still have air in the system and it is a matter of operating it a few more times. The system is self bleeding.
