Default Some thoughts on induction

This might be boring or may have even been talked about before but, here goes.
Why do people use metal or aluminium pipes for induction? They look pretty yes but surely these heat up and stay hoter for longer than plastic?
Also, has anyone thought about using heat shield wrap on the induction pipe? would this not ensure the air would have even less chance to heat up?

Greg, I think you will find that the heated air has a greater reaction in the explosion inside the chambers. A cold engine does not run well, if you ever had a Triumph you would know.

It's a 'bling'/appearance issue only- nothing to do with performance. The air travelling through the pipe at WOT picks up a minuscule 1/4 of 1 degree F, irrespective of what material is used. Not worth worrying about.

The Triumph issue is not relevant to our modern cars.

+1 it's mostly bling

BTW, On my STR a lot of it IS plastic and works fine...
