Sourcing Brembo Calipers
Hello,
I'm looking for a set of Brembo calipers to put on my XK8. I don't care about the condition of the finish, I am going to rebuild and refinish them in my color of choosing regardless. I have found a few threads, but few of them lack the details I need. My understanding is there's no caliper bracket with Brembos like the brakes on my XK8, the holes just need to be tapped for the larger bolts to fit.
1. Does anybody have the part numbers for the caliper bolts?
2. Can I use calipers from an XJR/S-Type R or do they have to come from an XK8/XKR?
3. Should I just get the dust shields off a car with Brembos if I can? I think I'd have to cut mine.
4. Can anybody find or have a good set for a reasonable price? I have checked all local salvage yards with no success.
5. Most people have had brake lines made, can I buy them anywhere?
I'd like to be sure I have the correct parts before disassembling my car.
Thanks,
Jacob

First check Welsh Ent. in Ohio, they (used to) sell a complete kit, with some components no-longer-available like the larger dust shields. There are part# for components too. I spoke with them a long while back and they had some "New/B-condition" calipers on the shelf too if you wanted to piece the kit together. Thing is make sure the caliper comes with hardware because these pins/clips are $$ separately. All-in-all this kit is a near-bargain, don't let yourself fall to sticker shock.
For brake lines, besides Goodridge, Centric makes a cheaper set now. Check the rock place.
For compatibility, it is only X100 XKR and X308 XJR. Others, while much more available/cheap will not fit.

jacobrnstein….!
As fmertz says.....Make a list of all the parts you will need....EVERY PART!!! Then go to the Wrecking Yards of America......there are a bunch of them....I have used: Nationwide Auto Recycling Inc https://www.nationwideautorecycling....d-parts/makes/ over the years and had good luck....I got an ECU from them that solved most of the problems I was having with my XKR for less than $500.00. They usually have several XKR-XK8's in stock....If you don't find them there look to other Recyclers…. That's what the Internet is for..!
