Default Speed Bleeder, Considering adding them

Have researched the topic and determined the Std. XK8 calipers ( 1 per caliper) use a M8 X 1.25 thread pitch according to prior posts. That pitch and size appear to be Russell # 639520. They are packaged as 2 per pack, therefore; require 2 packs. The XKR's with Brembos require a M1 0 X 1.0 type bleeder and suggest there are inner and outer on each caliper. They would require 4 pair. Please chime in if my info is incorrect and help by providing the correct info. Perhaps other could use it.

Follow up on previous post above with updated findings.

The standard OEM brake calipers on the XK8 use a JLM2192 superseded by new part number MDJ7478AA. The are listed as M8 X 1.25 X 35mm long. These measurements were confirmed by actual measuring and also a Jag parts site with actual picture and diagram with a scale plus printed measurement. Ordered Speed Bleeders part number SB8125LL (H9428) that are same size, but 39mm long. 4mm should not present a obstacle. Not installed, but appears they will work in place of the standard Bleed Nipples.

The Performance Brakes (BREMBO) appear to use a M10 X 1.0 X unknown length. Each side of caliper has a Bleed nipple so require 2 per caliper or 8 per car. Hopefully someone has a Brembo caliper and will provide the length and confirm the correct thread pitch and size. OEM part number appears to JLM21319.

Plan is to install the Speed Bleeders and advise on the fit and function in later post.

Excellent post but I found it hard to read and have taken the liberty of highlighting the part numbers in bold.

I used Speed Bleeders several years ago but they disappeared from the UK market. Unfortunate as they make "one man" brake bleeding very easy.

Have been considering this for a while (from Stahlbus), but it is not clear to me what length matters (as in most things...). So, the 35 mm is overall length for the XK8 bleed screw, but the threaded length is about 17.5-18.5 mm. Stahlbus has M8 x 1.25 x 16 mm and M8 x 1.25 x 20 mm versions (threaded length). It is unclear to me if either will work based on whether it is important to seat in both places. Do you know how the Goodridge SB8125LL seats, that is, how long the threaded bit is?

Installed the Speed Bleeders (This is the Brand Name, located in Illinois) today. They fit great and enabled me to do a one man operation on brakes. There was no problem with the extra 4mm length. Used a clear plastic tube and a plastic jar to catch old fluid. Drilled a tight fitting hole and fit tube through the lid. Tube was 9mm OD or 7mm ID. Also can use a 1/4" clear plastic line for tighter fit onto the nipple. The Speed Bleeder contain 2 nipples with sealant and 2 black caps to cover them. You need 2 kits for 4 calipers. These appear to be a worthwhile addition to the OEM Std. calipers. M8 x 1.25 x 39 mm.

After much dithering and discussion with Stahlbus, I finally purchased and installed the Stahlbus speed bleeders today on one of my 2002s. Both front and rear are good with the Stahlbus M8 x 1.25 x 16 mm (note the 16 mm is the threaded length). They are not cheap (about $140 with colorful caps). Both seat properly and have adequate clearance above the shoulder (seated thread length of OEM is 9.9 mm on the rear and 14.7 mm on the front rather than the larger estimates quoted above). Note that the front threads on the OEM part are inexplicably long outside the caliper, unknown why. Basically, I can reach the Stahlbus part on the front no matter what the orientation of the wheels both around the tire from below and through the wheel (impeller), so it's not that...

US store is (they have Benelux, German, French stores too):

https://www.stahlbus-us.com/bleeding...r-pack-m8x125/

Bottom line, they work great. Would have been quite a bit faster if I hadn't played around with how much opening of the valve is okay (about 1/4 to 1/3 of a revolution, Stahlbus says 1/2).

Good news Mr. Bass, glad they worked. Kinda pricey at $140 since the ones I used were $34 for 4 with caps. The ones I used were good in front but could have been loner at rear. Speed Bleeder Bleeding Brakes Bleeding Motorcycle Brakes Automotive Bleeder Screw Brake Bleeder They all worked great and very pleased. Easy bleed and no mess. Made a bleeder catch can with tubing; so just pump and tighten it up. Flushed the brake fluid through while I had the system working.

Just finished putting the Stahlbus bleeders on the other two cars. Generally very quick to both install and bleed. Unfortunately, it was not a one man job this time.

The unexpected winds provided a new labor category 'Bonnet/Hood Holder Upper".
