Speed Bleeders - RESOLVED
1997 XK8 blue Convertible
Are Brake Speed Bleeder nipples available for the above. If so what size are they and are they comman to any other models.
A scarcity of info' on any searches.
Thank you for reading.
Everything works as it should. No major snags in 80k miles. maybe dusty but certainly not rusty!

Speed Bleeders
Thanks Avern1
I have tried SNG Barratt with no luck! Perhaps I'll try again from a different angle.
Quite famiiar with Speed bleeders having fitted them to previous cars. I ordered some on the strength of a previous thread on here but they were the wrong size (too big). Has anyone fitted them to a '97 XK8...

I used these many years ago. In the UK they were marketed as ABV (Automatic Bleed Valves) but I haven't seen a supplier in this country for a very long time.
The question arises occasionally on the forum and I have a note of a US supplier:
Speed Bleeder Bleeding Brakes Bleeding Motorcycle Brakes Automotive Bleeder Screw Brake Bleeder
Given that pressure brake bleeders are so easy to use without an assistant and remove the necessity of repeated opening and closing bleed screws, I no longer see much need for ABV's.

Despite contacting many suppliers, none could confirm the size! I eventually did my own measurments with a micrometer and thread gauge. Both front and rear are M8 x 1.25. Ordered 4 and they fitted and perfomed perfectly. Only difference is the originals require a 9mm spanner (wrench) whilst the new ones need 8mm.
