Default Spoiler on eBay. Any good?

It's only $53 including shipping from Asia. And it comes pre-painted in whatever color code you specify. Has anyone bought one of these? And if so, is it any good? For $53 it almost seems too good to pass up, but then again, you get what you pay for.

I found another even cheaper. It's only $40 including shipping.

It is hard to say what the quality is like, it might be just fine. The issue I have would be style and fitment. Universal size spoilers never seem to look right and, while this one is suppose to be custom size, there no picture to show what it would look like on our cars. The difference in cost between the two is one is preprinted while the other is unpainted. So the question is do you feel lucky enough to gamble that it would look good? If you do, I would go for the unpainted version so you save a little if you don't like it, or if you need to do a little modification to get it to fit right before you paint it. If you do decide to buy it, be sure to post pictures

Hey Reverend - I see them on Ebay too. No experience with them or how the look in the "flesh", so to speak. Doesn't sound fatal if it turns out to be junk. Hope you report back if you get it.

Rev
K Westra is right. I don't think you would be happy with a universal spoiler. The trunk on the XK8 & XKR's has a curve. and the spoiler is formed to the style of our cars. I would keep looking on E-Bay or at Auto-parts for a used one and have it painted to match your car.

Hey there....I bought sumthin similar for my A6 from similar people off Ebay for around the same price. I worked on the premise that if it was poor quality / poor paint match it wasn't the end of the world. If you decide to proceed on that basis you really might strike it lucky

As it turns out, mine arrived very quickly and the paint match was perfect. I fitted it myself in around 30 mins using the 3M tape that was already fitted and its great and as good as stock, with a saving of around £250 for me

i purchased one off ebay
it took around 2 weeks to be delivered

the colour match seemed pretty good
i wiped down the bodywork with a degreasent
peeled back the 3M tape and attached to the bodywork

its pretty flexible, and can be bent to a sharp curve without the paint cracking not bad at all for $27.99 + $26 postage to the UK
the sellers id on ebay is essen.sema

hope this helps cheers

I put one on my 2006 XK8, but it cost about $100.00 painted. Looks great and it has been on for over a year now with no problems. It looks factory installed.

Neemo, that's quite a license plate you chaps have over in the UK! What's up, they want to be able to track you from outer space, or perhaps a drone? LOL

Doesn't look too bad for the price, I have quite a few 2005 XKR spoilers laying around my place which are GRP copies and a few standard early type ones too

And thats a standard size number plate a lot of the guys here have larger ones to remove the metal surround and cover the holes for the US market

I am sure Norman wont mind me borrowing one of his pics

I wanted to try the spoiler look; I found the ebay seller with a 'low profile' spoiler, uniquely tapered at the ends, which I liked. I could curve it a little bit also since it was flexible, didn't like the look straight across. I provided my paint code, and it arrived in less than 7 days from waaaay over there. Good paint job, btw.

Now seeing the OEM xkr spoilers below (thanks to MiamiXKR for his pics), I tried to keep mine near the edge of the existing boot without hanging over it...at least too much.

MiamiXKR's spoiler ---

Rjag also tried an add-on spoiler on his (in fact the same TM3 model as I purchased); I borrowed a few pics from his post in this thread (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-17/spoilers-again-72859/)

Mine looks almost the same, similar position, etc. Its growing on me. (Try to ignore the missing parking sensor, a new one is en route from Nalley)

Not bad, but I'm still a fan of the smooth *** I wish it was a little wider and I'd be more of a fan.

I can't imagine life without those parking sensors anymore. And they've always been really accurate for me as well.
