Default " Stability Control " and ABS light on, from car being on a lift?

I had my 98 XK8 with the trans issue looked at today, put the car on a lift, the transmission fluid was in good shape, put the car down, started the car up and now the "Stability Control" light and ABS light are now on..... drove about 20 more miles, with 3-4 turn off the car, turn on the cars thrown in and it is still showing these lights, does this make sense?

When I drove off the mechanic said it was from being on the lift, does this make any sense?

If you were running the car checking the transmission on the lift....your stability control would have to have been turned off. You would get an ABS light because your front wheels weren't moving and the rear were. However with SC turned back on your ABS light should have reset in about 500 ft. of driving not 20 mi. Just putting the car on a lift will not create this problem unless something got broken...like an ABS line...in that case your mechanic is right. Try doing a hard reset. It can't hurt and who knows it might reset it.

Could have stretched the wiring harness on the front, those seem to the most sensitive to being 'pulled' apart either at the connector or in the loom somewhere. The early years had barely enough wire to reach the sensor...turning sharp can pull it, a lift where the suspension extends...etc. Worth a check.

What about checking the inertia switch? Maybe it switched itself off during the raising or lowering phase....

No jon, he needs to pull abs codes. My bet is on 1 of the front abs sensor link leads. Theyre constantly flexing like a coat hanger while driving and eventually will break a wire. Not his fault it was just the final straw, er wire that broke the jaguars back
