Starter motor interchange Ford- Jaguar 4.0?
Got back to FL yesterday and went to start my car after 5 mos. Engine fired for 1 sec. on first turnover, then quit. Turned the key again and got loud starter motor noise (not clicks), and engine not spinning. Battery fully charged on Battery Tender. Anyway, condo rules, no working on cars in the garage, so looks like a tow today. Just want to be informed before I take it to a new-to-me garage. I looked at starters online and it looks like different starters for Jag vs. Ford, but I'm hoping someone has definitive information.
Also to add to the fun, rt front tire was flat. This garage is a family owned independent shop that works with Tire Rack. They have Road Force balancing. I'll replace my front tires while the car is there since they are both badly worn on the inside. I hope it's just toe-in. I replaced all the front end bushings 5,000 mi ago, but never got to re-doing the alignment.
UPDATE: The old hammer trick got the starter freed up. Must have been some corrosion. Still if anyone knows the answer to an interchange it will either help me or someone else in the future.
