Steering Rack Hose O-Rings?
On the heels of replacing the damper pads on my front shocks, I also needed to replace the steering rack.
This really sucks because it has only been about 5 years since I replaced the damper pads and also the steering rack with a rebuilt one.
The original vendor warrantied the part and sent me a replacement but the replacement was damaged where the hose retaining plate clamps down. They are sending me another replacement now so the car sits up on jackstands until that arrives.
It is a much broader conversation about how **** the parts out there are now. I, as well as many others, simply cannot afford to purchase OE Jaguar parts. The cost would outstrip the value of the vehicle very quickly but the aftermarket parts suppliers these days are sending out pure and utter crap. The only things I seem to be replacing on my car are parts that I had already replaced myself. The old parts with 180K on them continue to rock on.
Ok, enough of that rant.
While installing the rack that I was destined to pull off again, I noticed that the hose are not feeling snug when I insert them into the rack. Although I had zero leaks on the rack, I still do nto feel comfortable with the amoutn of play on the hoses as they seat in the rack.
I do have a very well supplied hydraulic hose builder here in my town and will try to source new o-rings from them if possible. Does anyone have the measurements of the original o-rings? Hoping that they are not some obscure size that would prove difficult to match. Alternatively, if there is a link to a set of these o-rings that I can jump on, I would probably take that route.

I couldn't find a part number for them, so I just bought a 'selection box' and found some that work. Those pipes always seem to have a lot of play in them when seated, presumably by design, but seal up fine. They certainly aren't rigidly held in place.
