steering rack refurb
I noticed a few oil spots on my drive yesterday and had a look under the car for the culprit, seems like there is power steering fluid dripping from the boot.
I'll stick on a new boot but it looks like the seal on the end of the rack must be leaking.
Has anyone tried putting a new seal on a rack before?

I used to buy off these people years ago - I would imagine they will have a kit in stock or be able to recon. your old unit.(btw I have no commercial connection with them).
I think the rack will have to be removed to reseal - do all of them whilst you're at it.

Last I checked, you could get a rebuilt rack for less than $250. I would go that way. The problem with replacing the seals is that the steering rod might be worn to the point that a new seal won't fix it.

This video was enough to make me think twice before trying to refurb myself.
I have bought a second hand unit so I can work on a refurb without the pressure to get it done quickly.
