Default Steering wheel

Just bought a 2003 xk8 convertible. Couple of things not working. Steering wheel goes up when the key is removed but only occasional comes back down when the key is inserted. One other problem is the outside mirrors do not fold in. The last issue is I cannot get the homelink to learn. Any help is appreciated.

First thing is to have the battery tested. The electrical systems on these cars are very unforgiving if your battery is not operating at 100%.

Wait, these cars have folding mirrors? How do you activate that?

Depends on the opener. (very) old systems have just one code, so no learning involved. Later systems have a "rolling code", so the procedure involves pressing a button on the motor itself. Newest systems are just incompatible with the latest XK8 Homelink, so you need to get a Homelink "bridge" from the opener manufacturer. The bridge is paired with the opener with the new tech, but implements the old tech as well for your car built-in opener. The bridge plugs into an outlet in the garage. I assume this bridge sort of downgrades the security of the system to the rolling code type.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

Oh, that seems simple enough. I'm going to try it later. Do all X100s have that function?

Thanks to those that replied to my post about my steering wheel. Thanks to fmertz for the blue wire fix. Did that today and it seems to be working fine. Still can't get homelink to work.

Not on my '97. Must have been an option.

I think my '04 also doesn't have it. I tried those steps and nothing happened. I do have the reverse tilt function. So that is something. I also doubt I have heated mirrors.
