Another issue: the telescoping feature on my steering wheel does not work. When I use the switch the up/down tilt feature works, but no response from the switch for the telescoping feature. I do not hear the hum of the motor working at all. Is there a way to check this without having to dismantle the steering column to expose the motor? I am still doing research on this but I am still throwing it out there.

I have looked at "REACH CABLE BROKEN". However, if the cable is broken, wouldn't the reach cable motor still work? As stated, I do not hear the motor humming. If the reach cable is broken will that stop the motor from working?

 

The motor could fail.
The most common fault is the cable but make sure the motor is plugged in.
The connector is a YELLOW 8 way.(FC61 / 8-WAY MULTILOCK 070 / YELLOW)

 

You may consider the motor is at end of travel limit and will only activate when reset. That is the reason the DVOM reading is used to set it during operating cycle.

 

I haven't done anything with it yet as I am still trying to learn how the system operates. I don't want to go in there without at least a basic knowledge of how it works, so it's back to school for me while I study this. I am not going to touch it until I fully understand how it works. I hate having to do a job twice or make a stupid mistake.. I have the steering wheel and front seats out of the car to get them upholstered so I think its best to fix this before I put them back in the car.
