My 97 xk8 stereo works ok ,however the LCD screen and all the other backlights don't work. . I would consider replacing the unit, however I can't seem to find a fascia frame except the one from dynamic sounds which would be $400 cdn . Ouch ,!
If I could find and fix my original unit, that would be best case scenario.

Problem with updating to an aftermarket stereo is I have collector's plates so must all be o.e.

 

When you say the LCD screen doesn't work, is it just the backlight or has the screen itself failed? Can you see anything on the screen? If it were me, I would get the radio out of the car, dismantle it and start by replacing the bulbs - no doubt someone on here has done this before - you might even find a thread about it.

 

replacing the failed lighting in the radio can be done but it will require some electronics skills since the leds are not plug in type.
