Default Sticking DSC push button....

On my 2005 XK8 CF ed,...... the DSC button can stick when pushed, but does not disable the DSC.... (must be done to smog the car in CA)... I used some computer duster spray (it gets real cold, when this happened before in winter it popped out when the car cooled off) to see if cold would free it and it did momentarily so that I could get the car smogged.... but there needs to be a better fix... any suggestions?
How do you remove the plastic button without damaging it so that the inside can be cleaned if needed..... probably something was spilled or sprayed in there by accident by the previous owner.........

This must be a 2005 thing as my XK convertible has the same problem,
I just use a credit card to lift the Switch cover back out, and just keep pressing the button until it works.

But this only last for a few days and then sticks

I would suggest spraying some electronic contact cleaner around the edge of the button. You can buy it at Radio Shack. It sprays wet, but dries very quickly and doesn't harm electronics. It should clean out any gunk that got behind the button and is causing it to stick.

the switch cover WILL just pop off, I swapped some of the covers awhile back on mine. It is much easier if the row of buttons is outside of that fascia though. Be careful.

Thanks All.... The row of buttons doesn't really come out very far from the surrounding fascia unfortunately........ I see it breaking when trying to pop it off.... I may try the contact cleaner. Normally you don't have to mess with the button... but like I said you have to turn it off when having the car smogged in CA
