Just today, Kitty started acting very, very strange. When I tried to lock the car at a shopping stop, I used the button on the remote standing right next to the car. I hear a beep sound, (not the horn) and then the door locks cycle like 3-4 times and remain unlocked on the driver's door only. Seems the passenger side locks after the cycles.

I tried cycling the convertible top down then up until the chimes sound - no difference.

Also, the key will not lock the door manually when inserted into the door.

I cannot manually lock the driver's door from the inside either.

I remember older cars had a button thing that would turn off the dome light, etc. Maybe our cars have one and it is stuck or broken?

Any suggestions where to start?

 

I've had strange stuff like this with door locks when the battery got a bit low. Try a charge then I hope it solves it for you.

 

And if not, it is likely a bad microswitch in the door latch mechanism.

 

I had exactly the same problem. New door lock mechanism fixed it.
