Just wanted to post how much I love to Drive my 2006 XKR, Convertible, Victory Edition, Metallic Black Copper with the Ivory interior and black carbon fiber dash. Just so beautiful.
I had to take a couple of Ubers the other day (had to drop the cat off for inspection), and I got rides in two different Japanese SUVs (or crossovers). I just marveled at the expansive black plastic interiors. The wonderful molding of that textured stuff. Getting back in the Jag was like entering a different world.
I do not think the spirit of the sports car is captured in new/newer vehicles: the XK8 series creates an atmosphere quite unique, fusing character, plush, power and style. I test drove a new F-type R and wow to the power, but it was quite raw, unrefined, harsh,. shot-out-of-a-cannon feeling... still love my 26-year old girl much better.

Actually, what you’re describing is the difference between a Grand Tourer (your XK8) and a sports car (loosely an F-type R). If that was too unrefined and harsh for you, then don’t even look at a real sports car like a Lotus Elise or Alfa Romeo 4C.
