I have an entire assortment of impact wrenches, air ratchets, etc. and would rather pay someone else to do my work than to work without them. Tools don't break fasteners, people do. ;-)

Count, I'm not really disagreeing with your preference. Unfortunately, it may be the shop owner who is pushing the mechanic to "get done with that car".
