Default Swap 1998 Three Gauges into 2001 Sat Nav Dash?

Hello All,

I've got a lead on a three gauge centre dash for sale from a 1998 model. I've got a 2001 with navigation (which never gets used). Is a swap possible? Would it be plug and play or would it entail major wiring work? UPDATE - I've figured out the wiring harness mod needed. Will have to ask the seller how much they are looking for.

Dash appears to be in good shape but does show some cracking to veneer (but no worse than I have right now). What would a fair price be for dash and gauge cluster, assuming it would fit my later model?

Thanks in advance!

I offer these harnesses on my website here: XK8 / XKR Navigation to 3-Gauge Conversion - TheJagWrangler

See my article here: http://www.jcna.com/sites/default/fi...Jun%202017.pdf on page 27. This should answer most of your questions. Let me know if you have any others.

Did this a couple of months ago and WhiteXKR's harnesses are the way to go. The only advice I'd give on the woodwork is buy the entire set, just doing the centre panel looks strange and will probably annoy you to the point where you'll buy a full set anyway. It does take some time to find the set you want on EBay.

Or do what I did and buy a second hand Garmin 5" sat nav on ebay for £15 and install that in place of the obsolete OEM unit. I also added a backup camera, which is a very worthwhile addition.

Thanks for the advice - I am looking at an entire set (if we can do a deal) so all good there.

Thank you. That does look interesting, how much of a job was it to install?

I'm leaning three gauges but always good to know about options.

I see you live in Nerja, that's a lovely little town; my mother lives not that far from there in Canillas de Aceituno
