Sweet XK8 parts
I just purchased a transmission from a 41K mile car in Pontiac Michigan, at a place called ACME Auto Parts.
Supposedly this car was bought at the auction with flood damage. I opened up the trans I bought, and evidently the water level didn't reach the trans vent.
I was shown the car, that the trans came out of, and it has a dark blue top, silver body, and dark blue interior. The headlights, bumper, and front end has been pretty much sold, but the engine is still there. The interior is complete, and looks like no one ever sat in it. The entire interior is mint, even the console. The center armrest looks like new, with an unbroken cup holder. All the wood is beautiful, and still has the hard to find plastic shift gate. I would have bought the shift gate, but I have one coming from across the pond. I don't know what year it is, but it has the word Jaguar on the right side wood, where mine doesn't.
It has the stock wheels, that look to be in good shape, and even the dark blue carpet looked like new. There was no musty smell inside the car, and the prices seem reasonable. I wish I would have bought it from the auction.
I bought the 41,000 mile trans for $700, with a 90 day warranty. I am hoping with regular maintenance, the trans will outlast me. They even let me remove my rebuilt valve body from my old trans, that I bought from RevMax, leaving the core without a valvebody, or electrics.
They do ship, but I was up for a ride, and brought my core transmission in the trunk of my X Type. It fit perfectly, on top of the spare tire, with moving blankets surrounding it......
Just thought I would give you a heads up. If my car wasn't racing green, I would have bought the complete interior, and top for myself. Be cool.....Mike
