Default Switch illumination

Dose anyone with a 2005 XK8 know if the radio and cruise control switches on the steering wheel are supposed to be illuminated? The dealer says no, but with the rest of the dash lit up like a christmas tree, I find it hard to believe they would deliberately leave these dark. Doesanyone know for sure?

the switches on the steering wheel of my 04 XKR do not light up either, although I would have thought they should.

Mine do not light up either and I had not expected that they would. These are pretty small so I figured the designers assessed that the hassle and extra cost of fitting them with small leds and then adding wiring, etc. would not have been worth it. Moreover, these switches are intentionally pretty intuitive and whole point is there is NO need to look away from the road to make the adjustments.
