Default Tensioner debris

I pulled one of the cam covers and wasn't surprised to see a (presumably) old style tensioner there.
I will order the pair off ebay - there are a couple of traders doing a set for £75.
In the other photo you can see some debris.
I have vacuumed it out now (3 bits) but am wondering if they came off the secondary tensioners or somewhere else?

??

Unfortunately, your second picture is not as clear, but I think it's looking down along the primary chain and may be parts if the guide.

If that is failing you need to remove the timing cover and replace the lower tensioners and chain guides, then drop the pan and get all the pieces out of the oil pickup screen.

It looks like you may be missing the slipper off the tensioner pictured. If your chain is running on metal there is a significant amount of missing red plastic.

Thanks Tom, I missed the obvious.

Wow - a bullet dodged there!
Does the slipper breaking up destroy the chain or is it likely to have survived?
What should I look for?
Thanks - Mark

The chain should be fine but this does justify removing the oil pan to clean the oil pick-up screen as RJ237 indicated.
