Default Tensioner Guides, how many do I need?

I'm having the Primary and Secondary Tensioners done on my 00 Jaguar XKR. I believe I need 4 guides to do both the Primary and Secondary. Floating around on these forums the guides are listed as part # 2W9Z-6K297-AB with a quantity of 2 needed.

So my question is, is there 2 guides in each package or do I need to purchase 4?

Be aware that there is a supplier that has developed lower chain tensioners based on the 4.2 engine, (which have stonger and longer-lasting tensioners) for fitment to the 4.0 litre. Trouble is I can't remember the name

I was under the impression that the plastic tensioners were phased out in 2002. And the new stronger tensioners are the only ones they sell now.

I talked to my mechanic and he's telling me there are out outter guides which are different from the 2W9Z-6K297-AB part number. So does anybody know of any other guides and what the ford part might be?
