Default Tensioner job underway

Hello!

The workshop concluded that the two upper tensioners where worn, so they are changing those tomorrow. They also reported that two of the pulleys in front of the engine where a bit noisy. They wanted me to change both now, but I've just spent 4000£ on my garage so didn't really feel much for a workshop bill now. My thought was that I can do this myself later this winter.
They said it was no hurry really...

How difficult is it to remove the front belt and change those pulleys?
My guess was 1-2 hours.. Is that way off?

Cheers, Jarle

. . . or less.

JTIS calls for a special tool to remove the belt but it is just a bent wrench.

I haven't had to do that yet but it certainly doesn't look difficult, just a little close.

If you are talking about the wrench to take the pressure off the belt at the tensioner I just used a socket for the bolt and a breaker bar. Took the tension off the belt and lifted off. You can gi to my page and see how I did my alternator.

Thanks, I don't feel bad about not changing the pulley now then.

Do you need to take anything off, like the fans?

Cheers, Jarle

I think it is best to remove the fans and get them out of the way. I would recommend that you place cardboard over the radiator coils to prevent accidental contact with it resulting in a leak. Good Luck!
