Terribly Made Glovebox Handles
Hi Forum!
I've been getting my XKR coupe ready to sell, and the glovebox latch has broken off. It was just pulled up like normal and *crack* the little plastic piece that holds the latch broke. I can still open the glove box...how you may ask? Well, same thing happened in my XK8, and I never got around to fixing it but I learned how to move the metal and open the glovebox.
Just another inconvenience...I wonder if this is a quality problem or just that the plastic is old and very brittle. Does anyone know how to avoid something like this in the future, as all the plastic on the inside of the car is just as brittle and I'm worried something else is going to break.
Last and most importantly- where do I look for a replacement handle / glovebox (eBay wants my arm and half my leg) - I haven't been able to find out if this part is compatible with an xjr/8.

Mine broke a year or so ago and is still broken. I too use the metal slide to "latch" it. I have had absolutely no luck in finding any new ones, and no mentions of using one from a different model. And yes people definitely ask a premium for them lol
Mine broke last year as well. It was like the handle exploded in my hand! The good news, I was able to use JB Weld to put the pieces back together and it not only works but it actually looks close to new.
