Thanks. Can't blame Jon. Was out-of-state. Thus far, not a single one came from NC (SC, GA, CT, VA).

Lots of potential trouble out-of-state, especially when there's a 'transfer driver' sitting next to me. Thankfully, almost never driving around with one or more spare 'transfer drivers' in California. 'Smog arbitrage' (taking perfectly good cars to states/locations more tolerant of particular car emissions behavior) seems like an interesting potential career for someone else.
