Question Timing chain tensioners

1999 XK8, looking for a U.S supplier for a rev 3 tensioner replacement kit that includes bolts and gaskets. I saw a thread awhile back that listed one that sold other combinations that included the guides, but now can't find it ? I don't have the types of tools needed so I'm also looking for a mechanic in the Houston area to install.

You can use Ford tensioners the info is in this thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-number-63055/ the gaskets vary so pay attention to the info also in that thread.
If you are in Houston you are close to one of the techs members-Brutal.
You could do worse than contact him and see if he is interested.
As a newbie you can't PM him, if I were you I'd get over to the New Members section and post an intro, with luck our admin will happen by soon and upgrade you to full access.

Welcome to the forum Jay!

The on-line Ford/Lincoln dealers have proved to be the low cost suppliers of tensioners and bolts. Your car, a '99, can use the FelPro gasket set for the '00 Lincoln LS/Ford Thunderbird at half the price of Jaguar labeled parts. Available at any auto parts store for less than $40.

Ford part numbers and lots of other info can be found here:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...34/#post330655

Post #4 has the Ford part numbers.

Thanks again, I've posted an intro, but in the meantime could you give him a heads-up to my problem. Not sure though if I want to use ford parts, isn't that who installed the crappy tensioners in the first place.

Jaguar is the only source for the Metal Bodied Tensioners.

The parts marketed by Ford are Jaguar Parts.

In fact, the Parts from Ford will say Jaguar on the Package.

Of course, the FelPro Gasket Set is Aftermarket.

I see you have a very good recommendation on this thread, but if that doesn't work out, call Tony at Today's European Cars on Richmond.

Although they don't broadcast it, they are very good with Jags.
