Default To tint or not to tint, that is the question

Opinion poll. Tint, no tint, partial tint (side windows, rear) or full (windshield, sides and rear)? What do you guys think?

mine has a dark tint on the rear & small side windows, a lighter tint on the door windows, nothing (afaik) on the windscreen. I like it.

Keep in mind that in the Northwest, it's gloomy 9 months of the year. Also, I'd research state law, each one seems to have it's own version.

While I think it would look good, convertibles can look a little odd with the top down and tinted windows. If you do it, do full tint

One word of caution, remember you still need to see at night. I did a 30% tint with Huper Optic (reflects 70% of the heat) and I think it's just right.

Mine came tinted, (originally a Miami Fl car), and while I am not a fan, with the Anthracite Grey, it a not looka too bad

I tinted my windows but I didn't like it at all and removed the tint. My wife likes to ride with the windows up and the top down (it's a hair thing). The tint on the windows reflected light back into the car making it hard to see out. With the top up it was no problem because the top kept the sun out of the car. But with the top down I just found it difficult to see out of the side windows. Also, I was usually wearing sunglasses so the 30% light transmission of the tint was probably cut down to 10-15% once it got to my eyes.

Prefer no tint, well, no extra tint. My opinion. Worth price charged.

I like factory tint. I don't like adhesive film tint.

My car had fairly dark tint when I bought it....I don't know the type/specs/percentage or whatever. Anyhow, there's no doubt that it restricts vision at night.

No problem on a well lit boulevard and headlights of other cars are easily seen but in some cases it's a problem. For example, I have a difficult time backing out of my driveway at night as I can barely see a thing. Or driving in a rural area without streetlamps.

Cheers
DD

Agree with you but I am nonetheless considering tinting just the back window of the convertible. Even with the Electrochromic self-dimming feature my rearview mirror blinds me at night.

the decision.....NO TINT, based primarily on feedback on aesthetics, I am keeping with the classic look. Next opinion pool which I have seen a lot of discussion around is powder coat the BBS wheels? I did this on my white RR and I love the look. Again I am concerned about the balance of classic aesthetics and super car cool/elegant

Right decision. 'Modern' accessories like window tints and LED lights just don't look right on the XK8.
